Australian Grown

The Australian Grown campaign is the culmination of Tasmanian vegetable growers joining forces with Birds Eye to make it easier for shoppers to instantly know that the food they’re buying is Australian grown.

Part of the campaign will be the launch of a new Australian Grown logo, which will prominently appear on the front of Birds Eye’s most popular frozen vegetable range such as peas, corn, carrots and beans.

This is great news for people who like to understand where products are from. A Newspoll survey undertaken in February, 2010, supported previous research that Australian consumers really want to get behind Australian farmers. Nine out of ten consumers say they prefer to buy frozen vegetables that come from Australia.

The new packs also feature photography of a number of vegetable farmers who grow vegetables for Birds Eye, some for generations.

Birds Eye has a long history of supporting Australian Grown since opening the first plant in 1944. Tasmania is one of the best places in the world to grow vegetables, which is why the majority of our vegetable products are grown there.

Tasmania’s climate, together with its rich volcanic soils and minimal pests and diseases, means that our vegetable growers can offer Australians the great quality expected from Birds Eye.

The logo makes it easy for consumers to identify and choose Australian-grown food, which ultimately provides the opportunity to directly support our Australian growers.
