Sacha King - Nutrition Science ManagerOne of the best things about working for an innovative company like Birds Eye is the variety. There are always new products being launched, which means the Nutrition Science team and I need to develop the nutritional information for packaging and advertising. We are also always reviewing our existing products to see if we can find ways to make them even better. The team and I spend a lot of time tracking the latest health and nutrition news to see how this might affect our products. For example, when the benefits of omega-3 were discovered, we launched our Smart Choice fish fillets with added omega-3. There aren't many people in the world that are lucky enough to feel genuinely passionate about what they do – but I'm one of them. I've worked for Birds Eye for almost 10 years and I still love it because there is such a clear focus on and commitment to nutritional quality. I believe we have a responsibility to help consumers make informed food choices, so I'm very proud to be part of that process. Favourite food: My motto is "everything in moderation", but I do love chocolate. |
I love working with Birds Eye because it's so dynamic and we're working with something real. Philip Corbet - Group Quality ManagerI've always loved eating, so it's no surprise that I've worked for a food company for the past three decades. As Group Quality Manager it's my job to make sure all our products are made to precise specifications. This means working closely with all areas of the business to get the right balance of size, weight, ingredients, taste and nutrition. One of the most important aspects of my job is food safety – making sure all our operating procedures are set up to ensure that all our products are made to the highest quality and standards. Because I work with so many different people across the business I'm always using my communication and problem-solving skills. I love working with Birds Eye because it's so dynamic and we're working with something real, like food. There's so much variety in every day that I never have a chance to get bored. I love tasting the new spuds and knowing these varieties aren't grown anywhere else in the world. Ian Wright - Contract Vegetable Grower (Potato)Around 26 years ago I swapped milking cows for planting potatoes and it's the best move I've ever made. My favourite part of the job is when I see the spuds I've planted mature into a really good crop, because I know it's the result of my own hard work mixed with good advice and strong support from the Birds Eye agronomists and field officers. I also enjoy the close working relationships we've developed. We're one of a small group of growers selected to plant trial crops for Birds Eye, to see whether we can keep improving on the spuds we grow in Tasmania. I love tasting the new spuds and knowing these varieties aren't grown anywhere else in the world. Potato farming seems to run in my family. My dad was a potato farmer and my son Troy has followed me into the business. Getting a good crop is like building a house – you've got to have a strong foundation or the house falls down. My job is to keep building that foundation so we can leave a good future for the younger generation. Favourite food: Chicken sandwiches and my wife's chocolate cake. And we never have a meal without spuds! |

Cheryl Beitzel - Food Design ManagerMy talented team and I are responsible for everything from creating and testing recipes to styling and photographing them, answering customer recipe and food enquiries and conducting taste testing for new products. As a busy working mum, I know the value of being able to create healthy, delicious meals quickly. After more than 37 years in the industry, I've created thousands of delicious recipes. From a quick and simple Pea Soup to a deliciously decadent Carrot Dessert Cake with Caramel Orange Sauce, I can help you turn healthy ingredients into delicious meals in less than 30 minutes. During my twenties, I spent three years sailing around the world with the British Merchant Navy, seeing exotic locations like Barbados, Bermuda and the Mediterranean. I love working for Birds Eye, though, because nothing compares with the fun of working with a team of creative, talented people who are as passionate about food as I am. Favourite food: Anything beautifully presented that delivers on taste. But mainly chocolate. |
